The 16-story apartment building was designed as a response to the lack of affordable housing in the city. Densely programmed with smaller unit types, the development dedicated more than 60 percent of its land for use as a public park which served as an amenity for the residents as well as the adjacent neighborhoods of much lower residential buildings. The modest project demonstrated the possibility of meeting a challenging brief while providing for shared spaces to support human well-being.
