Confidential Pediatric Hospital
Dallas, TX
24,000 SF, public spaces re-visioning
The pediatric medical center sought to re-vision its existing public spaces to elevate the arrival and departure experiences of their patients and staff. The commission was won through a design competition against a few global healthcare design giants. The program sought to change the existing arrival sequence from a multi-story parking garage to the main lobby via an existing pedestrian bridge. The design responded by reframing the program's focus on the children and creating a pathway that reminded them of the best qualities of childhood, offering a comforting and reassuring transitional space as they headed into the healthcare realm. The concept transfigured the institutional identity of the client. The interior materials were thermo-fabricated from solid surfacing panels with embedded LED lighting pathways.
