With a meticulous and tenacious approach to design and project delivery, Laurel serves as a collaborative process leader between project consultants, 5G team members, and clients to develop and document architectural solutions. Her role extends through the contract administration phase, working to see a design’s integrity through to physical realization. Originally from Windsor, Ontario, Laurel received her Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining the 5G team, she worked at Corgan Associates, where she was part of their healthcare sector before segueing into commercial design work including the Dallas House of Blues. Past projects completed with 5G include the Water’s Edge Church, a modern worship and education facility in Yorktown, Virginia, and Burleson Commons, an outdoor retail center in Burleson, Texas. Laurel managed the architectural delivery of the 1,001-guestroom Dallas Convention Center Hotel, a 1.1 million square feet hospitality and convention facilities attached to the existing Dallas Convention Center, pursuing a LEED Silver Certification. A Texas-Registered Architect and a LEED Accredited Professional, Laurel serves on the editorial committee for AIA Columns, the quarterly publication of the Dallas AIA chapter and the Dallas Center for Architecture. She is an active participant of the Women in Architecture committee’s mentorship program encouraging youth to pursue careers in architecture and design and is also a volunteer contributor to Public Architecture’s upcoming book on pro-bono design in service of communities.
