| James plays a principle role in defining the conceptual framework for many of 5G’s projects, translating a client’s expectations into an architectural expression that is well-suited to its use as well as innovative in its design. He strives to uphold the design integrity of a project as it encounters inevitable programmatic, budgetary, and technical shifts along the path to implementation. A Lead Studio Director, James’ 5G portfolio includes a broad range of project types and sizes, from the award-winning 6,715 Sq. Ft. Legacy ER in Frisco, Texas, to the 10,763,910 Sq. Ft. mixed-use development, Vincom Royal City, in Vietnam. A Texas native, James received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington. After several years of doing high-end residential and hospitality design work in New York and Connecticut, he moved to London to pursue a Master in Architecture from the Architectural Association’s prestigious Design Research Laboratory (DRL). James has participated in a number of exhibitions both at home and abroad, including the annual ‘Beyond Media Conference’ in Florence, Italy, and the Architectural Biennale in Miami Beach, Florida. In 2006, he was invited by the Industrial Design and Engineering Department of the Royal College of Arts in London to speak on the topic of collaboration between designers and practitioners in an endeavor to tackle complex urban and infrastructural problems of modern cities. Additionally, James participated as a Visiting Studio Critic at the University of Texas at Arlington for the Graduate and Undergraduate Programs in the Fall of 2009. |
