The 16-story, 128-room boutique hotel will site on two acres on McKinney Avenue near Bowen Street in Uptown, which was one of the only vacant pieces of land in the area, Brendan McNamara, senior vice president of brand development, told the Dallas Business Journal.
"We've been looking at Dallas for quite some time; it's an the most important gateway in Texas," McNamara told me. "We think this is an overlooked market for the boutique hotel business."
Plans include a 6,000-square-foot restaurant on the ground floor of the tower, with a lofted pool deck and an adjacent 14,000-square-foot lounge with views of downtown Dallas on the seventh floor. The project includes five stories of parking and guest rooms on the upper eight floors.
McNamara has not selected a restaurant for the tower yet and is reviewing a range of options and menus.
"We are looking forward to turning some heads and shaking up the scene a bit...It's what we do best," McNamara said.
Dallas-based architecture firm 5G Studio is the project designer. Hyphen Construction Group was selected to build the project.
The project is scheduled to begin construction in January, with an expected completion in winter 2015.
