As a founder of 5G, Dang encourages a collaborative, non-hierarchical spirit in the studio. With the support of designers, he oversees the design phases of projects and stays involved through to construction phase. Some of his recent design credits include the Dallas Convention Center Hotel, the All Saints Catholic Newman Center at Arizona State University, and the six-star Resort in Bali. A native of Ho Chi Minh City, Dang has also played a key role in the development of many of 5G’s projects in Vietnam such as: the Pullman Resort in Sa Pa, the Quoc Te Hotel in Nha Trang, the Novotel Resort in Phu Quoc Island, the Star City Tower, the Mercure Hado, and the Tran Vu Hotel in Ha Noi. Dang earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture and a Master of Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington. He began his career as a Project Designer at Polshek and Partners in New York City. Prior to cofounding 5G, he spent over a decade with The Beck Group (formerly Urban Architecture) as a key designer and served as Associate Principal. Dang’s work has been featured in mainstream media outlets such as: The Dallas Morning News, The Fort Worth Star Telegraph and Texas Architect. He was the recipient of an AIA Dallas award both in 2000 and 2008 and was selected for exhibition by the Annual Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Competition three years in a row. In 2002, his Alma Mater, the UT Arlington School of Architecture, named him a Distinguished Alumni. Dang currently lives with his wife and son in Cedar Hill in a house which he designed. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and licensed to practice in Ohio and Texas.
